Fortify, DSM Partner to Enhance 3D Printing Material Properties
Fortify and DSM are collaborating on composite materials for 3D printing structural parts.

3D printer manufacturer Fortify and materials supplier DSM have partnered with the intent to develop high performance composite 3D printing materials for structural parts. The partnership brings together Fortify’s Digital Composite Manufacturing (DCM) platform and fiber processing expertise with DSM’s application knowledge in 3D printing resin and formulation development.
The two companies aim to develop high-performance composite materials to be applied through Fortify hardware. The composite materials are expected to bring strong mechanical and temperature properties to 3D-printed parts. The materials are said to be suited for a variety of applications in markets such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, rapid tooling, and jigs and fixtures.
“Partnering with Fortify allows us to develop high performance composite materials for Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, making the technology viable for functional parts in demanding applications,” says Hugo da Silva, VP of Additive Manufacturing at DSM.
“Our collaboration allows us to leverage DSM’s mature supply chain and years of experience developing advanced materials to expand our resin palette,” says Josh Martin, CEO of Fortify.
Fortify and the DCM platform will become a distribution channel for DSM’s 3D printing materials.
