SCOPE/FIELD OF INTEREST

Additive Manufacturing Media (AM) reports on the promise of additive, its current applications, advances in technology, the challenges of employing AM effectively and the relationship of additive manufacturing to other manufacturing operations. Our coverage is aimed at manufacturing leaders. Some are succeeding with additive technology today. Others expect 3D printing to be the way they make parts in the future.

We share this content via our website, digital and print publications, e-newsletters, webinars, sponsored content, social media channels, AM Radio podcast and The Cool Parts Show video series.

PUBLICATION STRATEGY & DEADLINES

We are always accepting submitted content on a rolling basis.

All accepted content is published to our website, AdditiveManufacturing.Media, which is updated daily. Once we accept a piece for publication online, it can be considered for inclusion in our e-newsletters and/or print magazine as well as posting on our social media outlets.

ACCEPTED CONTENT TYPES

Generally speaking, we don’t publish equipment reviews, think pieces, “roundup” articles, step-by-step tutorials or market reports.

We do accept submissions and pitches for the following content types:

INDUSTRY NEWS

We highlight significant AM news online and in the News section of our print magazine. News covers major company news such as acquisitions and top-level leadership changes, and applications with industry-wide significance. News releases should include contact information for the relevant company or organization.

PRODUCT RELEASES

We cover new products related to additive manufacturing online and in the Tech Review section of our print magazine. Product releases highlighting new 3D printers, materials, hardware, software, postprocessing systems and inspection equipment are all appropriate. Submitted product releases should:

  • Highlight specific features and benefits of a single product.
  • Present the most important features first.
  • Be as objective as possible. Superlatives and subjective statements will be removed or modified at the editors’ discretion.
  • Provide a contact name, company address,
    phone number and website URL.
  • Include high-resolution images, when possible.

CASE STUDIES & TECHNICAL PIECES

Case studies and other technical pieces are typically published online only and should offer a deep dive into emerging technology, principles for the application of 3D printing or a specific success story. Guidelines for submitting this long-form content:

  • Content: We like deep content with a lot of detail, focusing more on technology than product. We prioritize stories that focus on a specific 3D printing application and provide quantitative details on benefits such as cost savings, lead time reduction and benefits, lightweighting. Think: What can this article teach about this technology? How does it work? Why is it important? What specific, quantifiable benefits has it displayed?
  • Length: These pieces are 800-2,000 words, and we will edit for length and style. It is best to err on the side of providing too much information; we can cut it down as necessary.
  • Illustrations: Please provide one or more high-resolution images with captions to illustrate key points.
  • About the Author: Contributed pieces will be posted with the contributor’s byline and an “About the Author” blurb at the bottom. Please provide the author’s name, affiliation and job title; a biography of 100-200 words; and a high-resolution headshot, if available.

APPLICATION STORIES

AM is interested in stories that showcase how a manufacturer applies additive manufacturing technologies to produce functional parts and the impact of this endeavor on the overall business. These longer form articles are typically written by staff editors. We love success stories about 3D printing users, especially when they involve the production of end-use parts or products. If there’s a customer you think we should interview, let us know.

SUBMIT A PART FOR THE COOL PARTS SHOW

Submit a part for The Cool Parts Show, our video series on innovative 3D printed parts. Email photos and a description of your part, how it was made and what makes it cool to CoolParts@AdditiveManufacturing.Media.

EDITING & EXCLUSIVITY

AM will edit any editorial submissions for content and to conform to our style guide. Contributed long-form content must be exclusive and must not have been published previously in another publication. Each manuscript and all other material accepted for publication or presentation is accepted on condition that the submitter assents to Gardner Business Media’s Standard Terms.

FILE FORMATS

All text should be submitted as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) documents.

Tables, graphs, photographs and other illustrations must be separate .jpg or .tif files — rather than incorporated or embedded within the text document. Please send the highest available resolution of photos (at least 4 × 5 inches at a resolution of 1,200 dpi) and videos (preferably 1080p), ideally without any text or logos imposed.

LARGE FILES

Files larger than 20 MB can be uploaded through Gardner Business Media's FTP site.

OTHER WAYS TO SHARE YOUR AM NEWS

Alongside our editorial channels, we also provide paid media opportunities. We offer sponsored content, webinars, advertising and more. You can find more details in our media kit
