Farsoon FS721M CAMS Large Format Metal 3D Printer Offers Continuous Manufacturing Capability
The system features Farsoon’s continuous additive manufacturing solution (CAMS) multilaser platform, which includes eight lasers to enable true additive manufacturing series production with increased automation workflow.
Farsoon says its FS721M-8-CAMS (continuous additive manufacturing solution) multilaser platform offers one of the largest metal laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) manufacturing solutions on the market. It is designed to enhance production yield and manufacturing turnover via its CAMS concept integration, which includes eight lasers to enable true additive manufacturing (AM) series production with increased automation workflow.
Series Production Ready
Integrating Farsoon’s CAMS concept, the FS721M-8-CAMS is equipped with an internal conveyor system and exchangeable cartridge strategy. That enables quick transfer of the completed build cartridge to the inert breakout station, loading the second build cartridge to the system and starting the production job — all while the breakout process is conducted in parallel. The company says this efficient exchangeable cartridge strategy enables maximized machine “laser-on” time, true continuous production capability and intensive manufacturing turnovers with minimal machine downtime between the build jobs.
Equipped with an expanded rectangular build cylinder of 720 × 420 × 390 mm and efficient eight fiber lasers, the FS721M-8-CAMS is said to be able to boost productivity up to 300 cm3/hr. and lower production cost per part. It is designed to be an essential series manufacturing tool for large-format industrial applications utilizing one axis. It is well suited for automotive, molds and tooling fields as well as other manufacturing industries.
High Quality Solution
The FS721M-8-CAMS features many features and capabilities for enhanced part quality and repeatability, including high-performance digital optics, customized multilaser scanning strategies and process parameters to ensure higher productivity and uniformed performance in multilaser overlapping zones. It also offers a advanced multilaser calibration tool for overlap calibration.
The updated chamber features include a multilayer gas flow with wind-wall design for a smooth and clean operation. The new recoater design also helps improve the powder surface flatness and consistency throughout the build area.
Operational Ease
The closed-loop powder handling system integrates multiple powder processes under a fully enclosed inert environment, including powder recycling, storage, sieving and new powder supply. The integrated permanent filtration module is also offered for reduced operational cost as well as enhanced operational ease and safety.
Like all Farsoon systems, the FS721M-8-CAMS is powered by Farsoon’s MakeStar software which offers powerful build process control and real-time monitoring of the build environment, including laser power, air flow, temperature, humidity and more. In addition, the in-chamber cameras are equipped to monitor and record each layer for enhanced build quality.
