Prima Additive, an Italian provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) solutions, will showcase its latest innovations in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) and directed energy deposition (DED) at Formnext 2024 in Frankfurt, Germany, Nov. 19-22.

The Print Genius 150 Double Wavelength additive system is based on LPBF technology and is equipped with a 300-W infrared laser and a 200-W green laser, which can operate alternately on the same work area. This makes it possible to process alloys that can conventionally be processed using infrared lasers (steel alloys, aluminum, titanium nickel, cobalt chrome), as well as pure copper or other highly reflective materials with the green laser.

The system has optimized gas flow for minimum nitrogen or argon consumption and material can be changed in less than two hours due to the modular components. Like the other machines in the 150 Series, it is equipped with a system for adjusting the focal point of the laser beam as required, so that parameters are always optimized to suit the application. It also has a dual preheating system that enables the surface of the powder bed to be heated both from above and below via a heated plate, thus enabling the powder bed to reach a temperature of up to 300°C.

The Ianus Robotic Cell is a multiprocess robotic cell offering a flexible system that supports various laser processes and integrates seamlessly with production lines through Siemens software.

The Ianus robotic cell is a versatile multiprocess system that can be configured for a wide range of laser processes. The cell is fully customizable and adaptable, capable of performing tasks such as DED with both powder and wire, as well as laser welding and hardening. This flexibility makes it well suited for manufacturers with diverse production needs. Built on a Siemens software infrastructure, the cell is designed to integrate seamlessly into automated production lines, featuring advanced capabilities such as Siemens’ Sinumerik One CNC and Insights Hub for streamlined control and connectivity across the factory.
