The +1000K arc metal deposition machine from Plus Mfg is capable of producing near-net-shape metal parts in aluminum, steel, stainless steel and other materials, and can deposit as many as four materials on the same part. It is said to offer an alternative to castings, forgings, parts machined from billet, thick-walled stampings and more.

The machine is fed with wire feed stock from spools for 500-lb drums, and fully enclosed to avoid exposure to molten metal or fumes. Using 0.035 wire, deposition rates range to 2.5 Kg/hr. A quenchant tank and chiller can cool or heat-treat parts. The system’s build volume of 1,200 × 900 × 66 mm is large enough to accommodate large plastic injection molds, a V8 engine block, sheet metal stamping dies and other similarly sized components.
