3D Platform is releasing new two new sizes of enclosures for its WorkSeries line of large-format 3D printers, one for the 100, 200 and 300 series, which will retrofit to x1000 machines as well, and one for the 400 series.

The enclosures are designed to be backwards compatible, so they will work with every machine that 3D Platform has produced and sold. They are designed to be easily be installed in the field without requiring a 3DP or factory-certified technician, although the x1000 machines will need an adapter kit.

The new enclosures include a filament warming box that fits two 5-lb (2.2-kg) spools of filament.  The box protects the filament from moisture and prewarms it for optimal printing. Air filter and heater add-ons are also available.

The design of the enclosures is said to provide a controlled and stable environment which reduces warping and shrinkage, and prevents accidental touching. For machines that are being used in a factory/shop setting, the enclosure keeps the bed and print layers clean.
