3D-Hybrid Solutions, a provider of metal 3D printing tools, has announced a joint venture with CNC machine tool builder Multiax to offer a large-scale metal 3D printer. The collaboration integrates 3D-Hybrid Solutions' metal 3D printing technology, enabling a deposition rate greater than 20 lbs/hr., with a large-format five-axis CNC machine tool, providing a printable and machinable space larger than 500 m3. According to 3D-Hybrid Solutions, the machine enables machined internal features and five-axis printing.

“Hybrid manufacturing is the future for medium to large-scale metal additive manufacturing,” said Karl Hranka, founder, 3D-Hybrid Solutions. “The infrastructure costs and paired value makes hybrid the obvious answer.”

3D-Hybrid Solutions has also announced the availability of its Multi-Metal Printing Tool for nearly any CNC machine, including five-axis mills and lathes. The tool enables multi-metal designs, and, when combined with five-axis capability, eliminates the need for support structures for greater freedom in design.
