3D-Hybrid Introduces ATC Solution for Hybrid Manufacturing
3D-Hybrid is introducing its Automatic Tool Change (ATC) Solution for systematic 3D hybrid manufacturing. The high-deposition rate wire-arc tool debuts with Takumi USA’s H12 double-column machining center. The hybridized machine offers X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 53" × 37" × 23", or about 26 ft.3 of 3D printing and finish machining volume, with nearly 100 fpm travel speed.
At IMTS, 3D-Hybrid will demonstrate the tool with the Takumi H12, a high-speed, high-precision machining center with a rigid and thermally stable double-column design. The focus of the demonstrations will be on tooling, die and mold, and large-scale metal additive applications.
A new 3D printing process that shapes extruded metal paste before sintering can produce fine detail and surface finish suitable for injection mold cores and cavities with limited or no additional postprocessing.
The capacity to build 3D metal forms is a retrofittable option for subtractive CNC machine tools.
New Mazak Integrex capable of additive manufacturing includes heads for both high speed and high precision metal deposition. “Natural extension of multitasking,” the company says.
