Offering more than 250 new features and enhancements as well as bug fixes, CimatronE 13 will provide improvements for mold, die and manufacturing shops, according to 3D Systems. The version 13 updates include a new user interface, dynamic creation of multiple views in drafting, the ability to define measurement probing cycles for CNC machines, API interfaces to support integration with PLM systems, and a new environment for concurrent design and manufacturing.

Among the added features is “Conformal Cooling,” a set of shaped, 3D curved cooling channels with a constant section area and constant distance from the plastic part. Benefits include reduced injection cycle time, increased cooling efficiency and uniformity, and decreased warping. According to the developer, this function will speed the design of conformal cooling channels by enabling the use of predesigned sections in various shapes, sizes and orientations.  S
