Uddeholm has launched Corrax AM powder, specifically designed with the needs of plastic injection molders in mind. By using the metal powder to additively manufacture tooling for plastic parts, users can explore possibilities such as creating conformal cooling channels to reduce cycle times.
Tooling is an optimal application for additive manufacturing with high demands, short run series and an ever-increasing demand for shorter lead times. According to the company, its focus on developing and bringing tool steels and mold materials to market naturally led to its decision to develop additive manufacturing powder to support plastic injection molding applications.
