Additive manufacturing system developer Concept Laser (Lichtenfels, Germany) is turning 15. The startup, founded in 2000, is the creator of the LaserCusing process for metal additive manufacturing. Its first M3 linear prototype was launched at Euromold in 2001, and delivery of these metal AM machines began in 2002. According to the company, more than 400 of its laser melting systems are in operation around the world today.

A key strategic technology area for Concept Laser currently is in-situ process monitoring. Starting in 2016, the company plans to offer QMmeltpool 3D for three-dimensional real-time monitoring. Validation, further development of methods and materials certification will be several of the company’s key development areas going forward.
