BASF SE announces plans to establish a new group company, BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH. This wholly owned subsidiary of BASF New Business GmbH will be headquartered in Heidelberg, Germany, at InnovationLab GmbH and will focus on 3D printing materials, system solutions, components and services.

The company will work closely with researchers and application engineers from BASF and external partners, such as universities and potential customers, to develop solutions for an array of requirements. BASF SE says it intends the new company to be agile, with interdisciplinary teams and quick decision-making processes.

The new company’s customers will mainly be firms that want to use 3D printing for industrial production, including those in the automotive, aerospace and consumer goods industries. It will take over and expand BASF New Business subsidiary Deutsche Nanoschicht GmbH’s 3D printing application technology center in Heidelberg to develop and test a variety of solutions, and will initially employ around 30 experts, many of whom were already working on 3D printing at BASF.
