Airbus APWorks, a 100 percent subsidiary of the Airbus Group, has placed an order for one of the first industrial metal 3Dprinting systems from Additive Industries. The machine is a modular system consisting of multiple build chambers and integrated process-specific stations. Airbus APWorks hopes to improve product consistency and reduce the price for metal additive manufacturing using the integrated MetalFab1 machine.

“We are proud to team up with Airbus as our first customer to further develop the process, new materials and applications as well as verifying  the performance of the MetalFab1 system,” says Daan Kersten, founder and CEO of Additive Industries. “Their commitment emphasizes the potential of our new metal additive manufacturing system for industrial series production of functional parts.”

Airbus APWorks is the first confirmed beta customer for Additive Industries. The company serves the robotics, mechanical engineering, automotive, medical technology and aerospace industries, offering services ranging from component design to serial production.
