Zare S.r.l. an Italian company with expertise in precision engineering, has taken delivery of an SLM 280 2.0 metal 3D printing system from SLM Solutions at its facility in Boretto.

Zare has been an independent service provider in rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing since 2009. In 2011, the company expanded its service offer in the areas of postprocessing, finishing of prototypes, and preparation of dental technical and medical models.

The SLM 280 2.0 system, which is particularly suitable for processing high-performance materials like those used in the aerospace industry, is currently being operated with the material AlSi7Mg0.6 (A357) at Zare. Correctly setting the machine enables the production of high-quality parts that require little postprocessing, according to SLM Solutions.

In addition, Zare also uses the alloy Scalmalloy, developed by Airbus APWorks. The company is testing and defining processes in accordance with the standard UNI EN 9100:2009 to take full advantage of the construction chamber height, which ranges to 365 mm in the SLM 280 2.0 machine.

"If you have a larger vertical expansion available, then that component in the machine can be aligned better and the number of necessary support elements reduced, which also reduces unwanted tension inside the component," according to Andrea Pasquali, co-owner of Zare.
