As additive manufacturing continues to gain momentum, manufacturers are now looking to educate and train their workforce to safely maximize AM operations. An educated workforce knowledgeable about AM operational environments adds value, minimizes risk and supports advancing innovation from within the company.

Paul Bates, general manager of the UL Additive Manufacturing Competency Center (AMCC), will discuss the training required to fully optimize an investment in AM at the upcoming Additive Manufacturing Conference, co-located with IMTS 2016. Special topics include spanning facility setup and safety, material selection and handling, as well as design strategies, postprocessing and part quality. For manufacturers new to AM, the presentation provides an introduction and for experienced AM manufacturers, provides an opportunity to compare and identify new additive solutions. Bates’ presentation takes place Tuesday, September 13, at 3 p.m. in Sky Ballroom B, room W375-B.
