The product manager for CGTech’s Vericut simulation software will discuss working with partners to identify challenges of hybrid manufacturing and improve its software.

Hybrid AM enables manufacturers to run complex additive and subtractive operations in the same job, but it can also increase potential for crashes and errors. Software that can realistically simulate laser cladding and material deposition to verify NC code has become important in dealing with the challenges of hybrid machining, including ,detecting collisions between the machine and additive part, and finding errors, voids and misplaced material.

The product manager for CGTech’s Vericut, Gene Granata, will discuss how the company collaborated with partners, such as Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology Inc. (CCAT), to identify challenges of hybrid AM and improve its simulation software, which enables users to virtually experiment with combining additive and subtractive processes to determine safe and efficient methods.

The presentation takes place Thursday, October 12, at 9:15 a.m.
