Editor-in-Chief Peter Zelinski sensed a change in the atmosphere at last year’s Rapid, noting in a post-show report that 2016 was the year that Rapid became a manufacturing show. With “Accelerating 3D Manufacturing” as its theme, it seems that the 2017 edition of the show is doubling down on this focus.

Hosted by SME and Rapid News Publications Ltd., the event takes place May 8-11 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In addition to conference sessions and technology exhibits, Rapid will include:

  • A Smart Manufacturing Hub featuring presentations on materials, topology optimization, the digital thread for AM and more;
  • Workshops on topics ranging from 3D-printed medical devices to metal AM’s impact on plastic injection molding;
  • The Additive Manufacturing Standardization Forum hosted by ANSI and America Makes; and
  • Tours of ExOne, the Arconic Technology Center, MAYA and Bally Design.
