Software company 3DSIM LLC is offering its exaSIM software, a cloud-based additive manufacturing simulation tool, in a Beta program. The software provides insight into residual stress and distortion predictions for metal laser sintering. According to the company, these predictions accelerate metal part production via informed support generation and trend analysis, reducing trial and error iterations and increasing the probability of successful builds.
“We’re using advanced computational solvers to predict residual stress and distortion in a layer-by-layer fashion,” says Brent Stucker, PhD., chief executive officer and a co-founder of 3DSIM LLC. “ExaSIM Beta offers two operational modes for predicting distortion and residual stress. A third mode will be introduced during the course of the program. All modes can be used to generate supports, conduct trend analysis and ultimately reduce the likelihood of build failures.”
Under the exaSIM Beta program, customers may select software subscriptions ranging from a basic feature product to an enterprise-level, customizable package. 3DSIM anticipates the Beta program running through mid-2017, at which time exaSIM will be released as a full-commercial product. During the Beta program, additional physics and optimization capabilities will be added to the solvers to increase their accuracy. As a cloud-based product, exaSIM enhancements will be immediately available to Beta customers. With the full release, 3DSIM intends to continue to offer cloud-based tools as well as solutions for installation within its customers’ facilities.
