Avante’s Mold Now Design Service Offers Alternative for 3D-Printed Injection Molds

3D printing specialist Avante Technology has announced its new Mold Now design and printing service for 3D-printed injection molds made using Avante composite filaments.

This design-to-mold service is intended to minimize the cost and technical risk for manufacturers to evaluate 3D-printed molds for production of plastic parts. The service provides plastic injection, compression or vacuum molds capable of delivering production-quality parts to industrial customers, the company says.

Avante’s FilaOne Gray injection-mold-grade, high-performance composite material enables a mold cavity said to support more than 100 molding cycles to produce quality parts using a wide range of thermoplastics. This proprietary composite filament can be printed on high-precision, open source printers.

Customers provide the CAD and STL files for the part to be molded, as well as any configuration requirements specific to the injection molding machine to be used for molding parts, and Avante performs all design and printing services including the preliminary tool design, printed prototype mold for testing, design revisions and printed final candidate mold.
