As Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology emerges out of development and into production, many manufacturers find themselves wrestling with the adaption of quality management systems (QMS) to handle the unique issues posed by AM. QMS must be modified to incorporate the right focus on process, part, and system that will allow certification (3rd party assessment) or self-declaration. QMS must also account for a properly qualified and managed AM supply chain including part/product selection, raw materials, internal equipment, and contract manufacturing among others.
How is your organization preparing for this necessary change?
