CAM-IT: Consortium for Advanced Hybrid Manufacturing-Integrating Technologies to Accelerate Adoption of Metal AM

Metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) systems provide short lead times, affordable low-volume production, and complex or customized products more readily than conventional manufacturing systems. However, metal AM processes currently produce parts that lack the tolerances, surface finish, and properties achievable with traditional manufacturing and require post-processing before they can be used within assemblies. There is no well-established system for integrating AM and secondary processing methods. CAM-IT defines a roadmap to guide such integration which will provide U.S. manufacturing industries the opportunity to become global leaders in the successful integration of the advanced manufacturing technology of AM with conventional value chains.
